The Los Angeles Lakers are inquiring as to why LeBron James cannot seem to get to the free-throw line.

Head coach Frank Vogel said the team has asked the appropriate bodies about the lack of whistles when James drives to the basket.

“We're dealing with the fouls through the proper channels with the league,” Vogel said, via Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times. “I think he's gone to the basket very aggressively, and I'll just leave it at that.”

James is still averaging 23.7 points through the first three games of the series. However, he has attempted just 10 free throws.

This is hardly the first time James has apparently been victimized by referees choosing to swallow their whistles. In fact, LeBron commented on the lack of foul calls in November, saying he consistently feels contact in the paint (via Chris Bumbaca of USA TODAY):

“I'm living in the paint and if you look at my arm right here, these are four or five (scratches) that happened the last two games, and they weren't called at all,” LeBron James said after the game, per ESPN.

“It's been a theme for me, personally,” the Lakers star added. “Pretty much in my career and over the last few years.”

LeBron is shooting 55.6 percent from the field, but he has not shot the ball well from beyond the arc, and is likely to keep attacking the heart of the Nuggets defense.

The Lakers would undoubtedly feel more comfortable knowing the referees were keen on looking for contact when James drives to the basket. It will be interesting to see whether James earns more free-throw attempts in Game 4.
