The Los Angeles Lakers have enjoyed a solid start to the new season, and five-time All-Star Luka Doncic has been one of the group’s primary catalysts.
The 26-year-old revealed that the team’s chemistry has been strong to begin the campaign, and also noted that he has felt more comfortable during his first full year in Los Angeles.
“It's great chemistry,” Doncic told reporters after the Lakers’ 119-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. “When I came, I was probably the more quiet (one), trying to get to know people. But right now I'm just being myself, just joking around a lot, trash-talking. I think one of the biggest things for the team to win is to have great chemistry, and I think we have that.”
Doncic was a key part of the Lakers’ victory over Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. He posted 41 points, nine rebounds, and six assists while shooting 9-of-19 from the field and 5-of-11 from distance.
Through his 10 games of the season, Doncic has 34.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 8.9 assists while shooting roughly 47 percent from the field and around 33 percent from range.
His enhanced comfort has seemed to pay dividends for the Lakers, who may have found their footing after a rough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Since that defeat, Los Angeles has won two straight contests and might only improve once LeBron James returns from injury.
“You got to find moments to recapture what makes you a good basketball team,Lakers head coach JJ Redick told Spectrum SportsNet after Saturday’s win. “I think over the last 24 hours we've done that.”
The 10-4 Lakers will host the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
