The Los Angeles Lakers have built a more suitable roster to put alongside prized gem LeBron James, who signed a four-year deal with them last offseason.

Following a disappointing 2018-19 season, the front office has now given James a superstar partner after trading for Anthony Davis, as well as surrounding him with a bevy of capable shooters, which should only prove helpful to a floor general of his level:

“There's no question this is a much stronger team that fits around LeBron better,” a league executive told ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

“They started backups a lot last season, and they had some guys on their bench that shouldn't have been in the league,” said a scout. “If they stay healthy, they have a playoff lineup now.”

Others, however, noted the pivotal point was the addition of Anthony Davis, giving James a prominent star to take on the scoring load and help him defensively:

“They added Anthony Davis; if they did nothing else, they were going to be way better,” said another league executive.

Missing out on Kawhi Leonard might have been a major blessing in disguise for the Lakers, who now boast a more well-rounded roster by signing the likes of Danny Green, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, JaVale McGee, Quinn Cook, Rajon Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins and others to round out their roster.

James now has plenty of shooters surrounding him, and his move to the point guard position will allow Kyle Kumza to snag the small forward spot and take the floor alongside Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.
