With Kyrie Irving being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers for a potential reunion with former teammate LeBron James, the big question has been, what does LA need to give up in order to make this deal happen? The Lakers have few valuable assets in their possession right now. This begs the question, though, should they seriously consider a potential Kyrie Irving-Anthony Davis swap?

ESPN's NBA guru Brian Windhorst has chimed on this potential blockbuster deal. Windy suggests that the Nets, who are reportedly at an “impasse” with regard to Kyrie's extension, would only be interested in sending Irving to the Lakers if Anthony Davis was part of the deal. In the same breath, however, the NBA analyst also made it clear that he doesn't believe this deal will happen (h/t Mike Chiari of Bleacher Report):
On Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective, he suggested the only realistic trade offer the Nets would entertain and accept from the Lakers for guard Kyrie Irving is one involving power forward Anthony Davis.
Windhorst noted that he has looked into the possibility of that trade happening but does “not see” it coming to pass.
Much like the Nets, you can also see why the Lakers appear to be hesitant in terms of fully committing to Davis long-term. While they have him locked up through 2025, it isn't surprising that Davis' name is now being dragged into trade rumors. Injuries have been a major issue for the eight-time All-Star and unless he gets healthy, AD's future in Hollywood is likely always going to be put into question.
