After the Houston Rockets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers Saturday night in Los Angeles, former NBA player and current ESPN TV analyst Jalen Rose got serenaded with “81” chants from the Los Angeles crowd outside Staples Center.

Jalen Rose, of course, was the primary defender on Lakers legend Kobe Bryant when Bryant scored a whopping 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006.

Kudos to Jalen Rose for keeping his composure on live television. That's not an easy thing to do when people right behind you are trolling you. Rose has been hearing the “81” chants ever since that day back in 2006, and they are likely never going to stop.

Kobe Bryant shot 28-of-46 from the field, 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and 18-of-20 from the free-throw line during his 81-point night. It's the second-most points scored in NBA history. Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in 1962. Both of these records are likely never going to be surpassed.

Jalen Rose had a pretty good NBA career himself. He averaged 14.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 923 games. Unfortunately for Rose, he's always going to be most remembered for giving up 81 points to Kobe.
