Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant continues to dazzle in his rookie season so far, leading his team to its sixth consecutive victory with an impressive 121-110 win over the tough Houston Rockets at the FedEx Forum on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Murray State product was on fire down the stretch, hitting two clutch 3-pointers right over the defense of Rockets superstar James Harden, who dared him to shoot all night long.
Shortly after the intense match, Morant shared his mindset of taking big shots.
“I work on it each and every day. I'm confident on my shot. The doubters said I couldn’t shoot. I’m proving them wrong. They keep going under the screens, so I just shoot and make them pay.”

Matched up against one of the league's best players in Harden, Morant did not back down an inch and finished with 26 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 37 minutes for the Grizzlies. He was extremely efficient from the field, missing only one of his 11 attempts from the field (90.9 percent) and went 3-for-4 from three (75 percent).
Ja Morant showed some fire as early as the first quarter, shouting an NSFW phrase directed at Harden who kept leaving him open from past the arc. Heading to Tuesday's match, Morant has been averaging 17.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 39.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the charity striple.
His outstanding playmaking and athleticism stood out the most during his two-year stay in Murray State, but some pundits wondered if he could consistently hit the long ball in the pros after he was selected second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, the 6-foot-3 Grizzlies guard has clearly silenced his critics with the way he is playing and shooting the ball.
