Even Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant couldn't believe the insane block he made against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

Morant undoubtedly recorded the best play of the game when he blocked a Larry Nance Jr. shot and sent it out of the court. The timing was so perfect that one would think that it's scripted.

However, as Morant said it, the block wasn't easy–so much so that he joked he should make one of the NBA's defensive teams for that play alone.

“That block was tough. I felt like Jaren out there. They might have to put me on the defensive team for that one,” the Grizzlies guard shared, per Drew Hill of the Daily Memphian.

For those who missed it, here's a look at the crazy block. Check how Morant jumped as Nance turned around–even before making the shot–as if he knew the ball was coming. It was a perfect block in every angle.

Ja Morant has been the most electrifying player to watch in recent years, and he is showing everyone that he can use his athleticism and explosiveness beyond just attacking the rim.

While we doubt that block would make him an All-Defensive team member, it's not an impossible feat for him to achieve in the future. Clearly, he has the basketball IQ and awareness to become an elite defender, which should bode well with the physical tools he has.

Morant finished Saturday's game with 21 points, four rebounds and nine assists to help Memphis win 141-114. The block on Nance was his lone rejection of the contest. However, it is worth noting that it's his first game back in three weeks of absence.

The 22-year-old missed nine straight games due to a knee injury, and by the way he played and the pop he showed, it is quite clear he is 100 percent healthy and ready to play. His return couldn't come at a better time with the playoffs coming right up.

While it would have been fine had he rested more and returned in the playoffs instead given how he played big after missing nine straight games, the Grizzlies will still be happy to have him back a bit earlier. Now, Memphis has one more game left, and that should be enough for Morant to really get things going before entering the postseason.
