The Memphis Grizzlies could soon get a boost from one of their young stars.
Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant posted a GIF on Twitter hinting at the potentially imminent return of Jaren Jackson Jr., who responded in kind.

Jackson has been sidelined for the entirety of the 2020-21 season after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee during the NBA restart last summer. But he was upgraded to questionable for the Grizzlies' matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The former Michigan State star could be a boon for the Grizzlies as they continue to fight for playoff position.

Memphis has managed to stay the course without Jackson in the rotation, going 29-27 through 56 games and currently holding the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies even have an opportunity to avoid the play-in series altogether. They are just one game back of the seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks and 2.5 games behind the sixth-seeded Portland Trail Blazers. Can Jackson's eventual return prompt a late run up the conference standings?
Jackson made big strides in his sophomore campaign. His scoring jumped from 13.8 points per game during his rookie season to 17.4 points per contest in his second year. The 21-year-old showcased his upside as a stretch-4 and defensive playmaker, shooting 39.4 percent from beyond the arc on 6.5 attempts per game while also recording 1.6 blocks per game.
Morant is the headliner of Memphis' young core as the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year. But Jackson is every bit as important to the team's progression and immediate future as the Grizzlies hope to remain in the playoff picture.
