As expected, Mike Conley says he was very emotional when he found out he was being traded from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Utah Jazz.

Conley says he sat around for about 20 minutes and started to think about everything he went through with the Grizzlies. After the lefty got over all the emotions, though, he began to get excited about his new future with the Jazz, who are now contenders with Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic in the mix.

The Grizzlies selected Mike Conley with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Ohio State University. The veteran guard is Memphis’ all-time leader in games played, assists, steals and points.

Conley finished his Grizzlies career with averages of 14.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.7 assists while shooting 44.1 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Jazz are getting one of the best point guards in the game and looking forward to seeing how he meshes with shooting guard Donovan Mitchell. The two were seen training together before the trade even became official.

Grizzlies owner Robert Pera said in a press release the franchise will retire Conley’s No. 11 jersey one day. You expect Memphis fans to give him a standing ovation when the Jazz come to town in 2019-20.
