Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has respect for the new crop of stars in the NBA.

James previously praised New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson following their first matchup on Tuesday, and he had similar words of encouragement for Memphis Grizzlies rookie Ja Morant on Saturday.

LeBron called Morant ā€œsuper specialā€ following Memphis' 105-88 victory over L.A., adding the Grizzlies ā€œgot a great oneā€ in the former Murray State star.

Morant certainly put on a spectacular show, scoring 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting (including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc) while also adding 14 assists and six rebounds. LeBron scored 19 points to go along with 10 assists and eight boards in his first game back from a groin strain.

The 20-year-old is the leading candidate for the NBA's Rookie of the Year Award, helping a young Grizzlies team arrive ahead of schedule while averaging 17.7 points, 7.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. Morant has also shown increasing confidence in his perimeter jumper, which was one of his presumed weaknesses coming out of the draft.

Morant has certainly caught the eye of ā€œThe King,ā€ who witnessed all of his star potential and then some on Saturday night.
