Golden State Warriors assistant coach Jarron Collins seems to be an option to replace J.B. Bickerstaff as head coach of the Memphis  Grizzlies. Collins interviewed with Memphis over the weekend with the approval of head coach Steve Kerr. Kerr was asked what he thought about the interview, and he had nothing but positive things to say:

Kerr appeared to be at peace with the potential loss of his assistant, saying:

“We want all of our coaches to expand their horizons, their careers, and we're all for it. Jarron is highly qualified to make his next move in the league.”

Jarron Collins has an extensive resume since he stopped playing in 2011. He has been a scout for the Los Angeles Clippers and a college basketball analyst. Additionally, he has won three championships in four years with the Warriors.

If Collins ends up getting the job in Memphis, he'll be moving to a franchise in the opposite place as the Warriors. The Grizzlies appear headed toward rebuild mode after trading Marc Gasol, with Mike Conley possibly next out the door.

The team finished 33-49 this season, good for 12th place in the Western Conference. They have a very promising rookie in Jaron Jackson Jr., who played excellently all season but dealt with injury problems and was limited to 58 games.

The Grizzlies are not expected to seriously contend anytime soon, but Jarron Collins will try to change that by bringing his winning ways to Memphis if he gets the job.
