Anthony Edwards has arrived, ladies and gentlemen. LeBron James and Kevin Durant know it. Though the Minnesota Timberwolves' hotshot rookie fell in the rookie of the year ladder early in his rookie season, Edwards has now been making waves and is living up to all the hype.
On Thursday against the Phoenix Suns, Anthony Edwards went off with a career-high of 42 points to help the Wolves snatch a much-needed win.
Edwards' 42-piece now puts him at an elite club of bucket-getters. According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, Anthony Edwards is now the third-youngest player in NBA history to explode for a 40-point game. The 19-year-old now joins the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Durant as young stars to drop 40 in a game before even turning 20.

That's not a bad group of guys to be clustered with.
The Georgia product has come out of the All-Star break with bad intentions. Prior to Thursday's game, Anthony Edwards was already averaging 27.8 points per outing since the mid-season break. This is a far cry from his 14.9 points per game average in the first half of his debut season in Minnesota. The young rookie has looked way more energized since the break and has been more aggressive putting up way more shots and complimenting the game of starting center Karl-Anthony Towns.
With key players like D'Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley set to miss a chunk of games, look for the first overall pick in this season's draft to continue his stellar run. Anthony Edwards can make a real push for the ROTY award.
Better watch your back, LaMelo Ball. Anthony Edwards is coming in hot, with the hunger of a Wolf and an emerging sense that he can put all the pieces together on the basketball court. Edwards' chops as an elite future pro were questioned before the 2020 draft, but those questions are being convincingly answered as his rookie season continues.
