Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor has decided to explain his reasoning behind firing former head coach Tom Thibodeau on Sunday following the team's victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The T'Wolves earned a convincing 108-86 win over the Lakers at Target Center, but that wasn't enough for Thibodeau to keep his job as the team chose to let him go shortly after the game.

Taylor chose to expand on the reasoning behind the move, with Minnesota fans likely wondering what led to the choice to fire Thibodeau.

From Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

Glen Taylor on firing Tom Thibodeau: “I said let’s let it go and see how things worked and I think now, we’ve gone up through halfway through the season and I don’t think we’re where we thought we would be or where we think we should be.”

Taylor also explained the timing for the firing, courtesy of Hine:

More Taylor: “We still have hopes to getting into the playoffs and I think with half the season left, let’s see if this change will make a difference.”

The T'Wolves currently sit at 19-21 on the season, and they've won two straight after the victory over the Lakers.

Of course, keeping that momentum going may be difficult due to the distractions, but that's exactly what Minnesota will try to do when it returns to the court on Tuesday night to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

After that, the T'Wolves will get a home matchup against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
