The Minnesota Timberwolves' roller coaster of a season continued over the weekend, as forward Taj Gibson landed in some hot water after “liking” some Instagram posts that criticized head coach Tom Thibodeau:

Adding to the intrigue was the fact that Gibson was unavailable to play in the Suns game, and rumors began to stir that perhaps he was held out by his coach's choice. However, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic quickly set the record straight and defended Gibson:

Krawczynski is right that this is not typical of Gibson, who is generally regarded around the league as a nice guy who brings veteran leadership and a hard-working ethic to a team. For what it's worth, Gibson responded like so:

Taj Gibson has been a solid player for the struggling team, posting averages of 10.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, one steal and half a block per game, while shooting a respectable 52 percent from the field.

The veteran from USC has always been a ferocious rebounder and shot blocker, and he has a long relationship with Thibs, having played for him in Chicago before arriving in Minnesota.

Taj Gibson and Tom Thibodeau will surely be able to put this in the past and focus on turning around a season that has featured plenty of ups and downs.
