Brandon Ingram now holds the New Orleans Pelicans record for most points scored through his first four games with the franchise. The Pelicans rising star, who scored 109 points through the first four contests of the 2019-20 season, supplanted former Pels big man and current Los Angeles Laker DeMarcus Cousins, who had the previous record with 89 points:

Ingram has been on a roll to start his fourth NBA season. Through four games, the former Duke standout is averaging 27.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. He is also shooting 50 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.
Brandon Ingram has taken advantage of the absences of some key teammates. Rookie phenom Zion Williamson has yet to play this season and will be sidelined for a projected six to eight weeks due to a torn meniscus in his right knee. Likewise, veteran guard Jrue Holiday missed their last two games because of a left knee strain.
The absences of Williamson and Holiday have given Ingram the opportunity to be the team's primary scoring option and be a playmaker, as well.
However, as good as his production has been to start his age-22 season, the Pelicans have come up empty-handed in the win column. They are now 0-4 on the season, and this includes an ugly home loss against the previously winless Golden State Warriors.
It will be interesting to see how the Pelicans look once they get everyone back healthy. In the meantime, they might have to rely on the leadership of their promising star forward for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, his production translates into wins for New Orleans.
