New Orleans Pelicans point guard Lonzo Ball is playing some of the best basketball of his young career lately and Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, as well as Ball, know why.

Both Gentry and Ball agree that health is a big factor in Lonzo's recent surge for the Pelicans:

“I think this is the Lonzo we thought (would be here). And the bottom line is he’s finally healthy,” Gentry told Pelicans.com. “He’s had these nagging things that had bothered him, but he’s healthy, and because he’s healthy, he’s been much more aggressive.”

“My legs are coming back to me,” Ball said. “Defensively, I can get into the ball more, play passing lanes more, push the pace more.”

In the Pelicans' last game against the Houston Rockets, Ball finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, his first triple-double with New Orleans. The former No. 2 overall pick hit seven shots from beyond the arc against the Rockets. It looks like Ball’s new shooting mechanics are starting to pay off.

In his first season with the Pelicans, Ball is averaging 10.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 38.3 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from beyond the arc and 50.0 percent from the free-throw line.

New Orleans is 11-23 on the season. They are in 14th place in the Western Conference standings, but have won four games in a row.
