For the first time since 2012, the Orlando Magic are going to the playoffs and All-Star big man Nikola Vucevic says it's “an amazing feeling.”
The Magic clinched their playoff spot on Sunday after defeating the Boston Celtics.
Vucevic, who has been in Orlando since 2012, has suffered through losing season after losing season, so this playoff berth means a lot to him.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Vucevic told Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel. “Nobody knows what I’ve been through in these last six years here, just through all the losing, the struggling, the doubting. It’s been very difficult for me at times and it paid off in a great way.
“This is what you play for, these moments to celebrate with your teammates. This is the best feeling you get as an athlete just when you achieve something and you celebrate with them.”
It's been a great year for Vucevic. He made his first All-Star team, led the Magic to the playoffs and also had a child earlier in the year.
Orlando is 41-40 on the season. They are in the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Vucevic, the Magic's best player, is averaging 20.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game this season while shooting 51.8 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc.
