Superstar big man Anthony Davis recently denied having talks with the New Orleans Pelicans front office about trade talks involving his name. There was a specific rumor that linked Davis' name with the Boston Celtics franchise.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski recently confirmed Davis' words, saying New Orleans has no plans to move Davis. An update to the story by Marc Stein in the New York Times informs Davis really wants to make it work in New Orleans, with the franchise that drafted him first overall in the 2012 NBA Draft:

“The Pelicans are nowhere close to even entertaining a single trade proposal for Davis from Boston or anyone else. The Brow, based on everything I’ve heard, badly wants to make it work with the Pels and also happens to be under contract for two more seasons after this one. No matter how many people suggest it, Boston can’t trade for Anthony Davis. So can we drop this one?”

Despite not having the success the organization probably expected, the team is not doing badly at all. The front office sees no reason to break up the core by trading either Davis or Cousins — or both — before getting a look at what the team can do in the playoffs. As of today, the Pelicans are sixth in the Western Conference. They have the same record as the seventh and eighth seeded Clippers and Nuggets, respectively. But after taking some time to find the team's identity, most players appear to be on the same page.

The Pels have won five of their last eight games. As a team, they rank third in points scored, second in assists, second in field goal shooting percentage, and ninth in 3-point shooting percentage, which are very solid numbers. The best case scenario for New Orleans is keeping the sixth seed, as they would avoid the Golden State Warriors until a potential Western Conference Finals matchup.
