Philadelphia 76ers point-forward Ben Simmons has been taking some jump shots lately during games and the reigning Rookie of the Year says it's going to continue.
After the Sixers defeated the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday at home, Ben Simmons told local reporters he wants to become a better jump shooter and is trying to get in as many reps as he can.
Ben Simmons on taking more jump shots recently: “I just want to get better. I’m not really worried about the immediate outcome. I think it’s just something special to my game that I’m adding, and it’s one of those parts to my game that can really separate me.”

As everyone knows, Ben Simmons has yet to hit a 3-pointer during his NBA career. Simmons does all of his damage in the paint. The lefty entered Saturday attempting just nine shots from beyond 16 ft this year. Simmons has yet to attempt a 3-point shot.
The 6-foot-10 Simmons made one turnaround jumper on Saturday. It's going to take time for him to become a reliable mid-range shooter, but it's good that he's at least starting to shoot some during games. Opposing teams are always sagging off Simmons and daring him to shoot, so he might as well take the bait and get some practice in.
Ben Simmons finished with a triple-double on Saturday against the Mavs. He scored 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 11 assists while shooting 9-of-17 from the field.
The Sixers won by a final score of 106-100 to improve to 26-14 on the season and 17-3 at home.
