James Harden is no longer interested in being with the Philadelphia 76ers and claims that Daryl Morey lied to him about an extension this summer, which led to his trade request. But, according to Rachel Nichols, there's one main reason the guard wants out of the City of Brotherly Love.

Nichols, who just joined FS1's Undisputed, says Harden isn't happy with being the No. 2 option with the Sixers and believes he's still good enough to be the leading man.

Via ClutchPoints:

“He still thinks of himself as the guy from that Game 1 [vs. the Celtics]… he thinks he should be leading the show. The reason why he wanted out of Philadelphia in the first place is that it's the Joel Embiid show right now.”

Could this be true? I mean, it's possible. However, other reports in past months have indicated that Harden has a good relationship with Joel Embiid. And let's be honest, The Beard knew this was Embiid's team before he even ended up in Philly. It's common knowledge. They've also built some impressive chemistry as one of the best pick-n-roll duos in the Association. Why not keep the partnership going?

Plus, how will anything be different with the Los Angeles Clippers, Harden's preferred destination? Kawhi Leonard and Paul George run the show there. In fact, he could even end up being the third option in Lob City.

The reality is James Harden hasn't been nearly consistent enough in recent years to be the No. 1 option on a title-contending team. In fairness though, Nichols did point out that Harden “needs to realize” he's not the same player anymore. Instead, the 34-year-old must accept a new role, whether that be the one in Philadelphia or as the third star in Los Angeles. By the sounds of it, however, he has no intentions of ever putting on a Sixers jersey again.
