The rumors surrounding LeBron James' landing spot eventually ceased after he swiftly decided to announce his decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers through his sports agency, Klutch Sports on July 1. Sixers big man Joel Embiid admits, even with hindsight, believing Philly had a chance.

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of his few potential destinations, something center Joel Embiid thought could become a reality.

“I thought we had a chance,” said Embiid after an NBA Africa practice, according to Dan Gelston of The Associated Press.

Embiid already has a team that could be built to dominate the Eastern Conference for years, with teammates like Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz — but adding James would catapult them into frontrunners for the East's crown in a moment's notice.

James reportedly did his due diligence considering options outside of the Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers, but in truth, did not entertain them — making it an inner battle between his lifestyle in L.A. and his roots in Cleveland.

The King did send a few of his associates to chat with the Sixers, but did not grant them a personal meeting. James did the bare minimum possible to acquiesce to their request, as he was already lined up to take a plane to Los Angeles.
