With the 2018 Draft Lottery in the books, most teams around the NBA landscape are shifting their focus to the future, including the Phoenix Suns, who landed the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming Draft. Which player the Suns are interested in taking remains to be seen. And in fact, it sounds like they might be open to dealing their top pick away.

In a sit-down interview with ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Friday, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough noted that the Suns might be willing to move back in the 2018 NBA Draft.

“We're certainly open to that,” McDonough said in his interview with ESPN. “We'll consider it. I think we'll have more information closer to the Draft than we do today… after we go through the workout process and the interview process and get the medical/physicals. So we're open to that.

“I think if you look around the NBA, as far as the veteran players, there are probably a few players we'd consider trading the pick for outright — just pick for player,” McDonough continued.

“It will be a busy month for us,” McDonough said in closing.

The Suns finished the 2017-18 season with a 21-61 overall record — the worst record in the NBA. There is no doubt the team has room for improvement, but they do have a talented young core that includes Devin Booker and Josh Jackson.

Whether or not the Suns will indeed choose to deal their pick remains to be seen, but it certainly sounds like they're open to the idea. Be sure to keep your browsers locked on ClutchPoints for more updates on this topic as they become available.
