With the addition of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to their fold in the offseason, the expectations on the Oklahoma City Thunder understandably grew quickly. However, things have not gone according to plan for them so far this season, as they own a losing record, and their “Big 3” is still adjusting to playing alongside one another.

Anthony has had his struggles, and looked lost at times in his new team’s system. He has received a lot of criticism for his inconsistent play this year, but not from Billy Donovan, who still had good words to say about him. The Thunder coach said that Anthony's play of late is caused by being selfless, and overcompensating to make things work, via Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com.

Carmelo Anthony's numbers have taken a dip together with his on-court woes, as he is averaging a career-low 18.3 points on 40.4 percent shooting, 1.6 assists, and 6.6 rebounds per game. Although he still receives a lot of playing time and shot attempts, the chemistry between him, George, and Russell Westbrook still leaves a lot to be desired.

Billy Donovan’s words is encouraging news for the Thunder faithful, as he remains positive that his team will be able to turn things around.
