Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard called out fans and analysts who talk a lot about the game despite not actually taking the time to watch one. The tweet has garnered thousands of replies from those who share the same thoughts. Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal was among those who echoed Lillard's sentiments.

On Twitter, Beal knows these “box score fans” all too well.

Like the Wizards star, many basketball fanatics replied to Lillard's gutsy tweet. One slammed how major media platforms discuss the game in their programs. Instead of actually discussing the game from a tactical perspective, they turn it into a gossip-tinged fiasco–which doesn't help in the cause of players, especially those whose impact cannot be measured by numbers.

Alex Kennedy of BasketballNews.com even pointed out how those prominent voices in the sports world do not have a deep understanding of the game.

Bradley Beal definitely knows what he's talking about. Statistics don't really mean a thing to NBA players contrary to what fans and analysts believe. All players care about is winning.

Last month, Beal exploded for a career-high 60 points, but it came at a loss. The following game, he drooped 41 points but his Wizards lost again. Last week, Beal continued his scoring tear with 47 points, and yet, Washington still lost.

It wasn't just the Wizards scorer who got triggered by Lillard's tweet. Charlotte Hornets guard Devonte' Graham and Isaiah Thomas backed Lillard up.

From Thomas' point of view, some people really think that they already know the nuances of the game just by watching highlights and taking a peek at the box score.
