Despite being outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference with an 8-17 record, Washington Wizards power forward Davis Bertans is confident that the team has a bright future ahead of themselves.
In an interview with Quinton Mayo of NBC Sports Washington last week, Bertans' longtime agent Arturs Kalnitis says his client is more than happy being a Wizard.
“Tommy [Sheppard] has done an incredible job of putting together this staff, team, and the players feel super cared about. It's been an all-around great experience,” Kalnitis said in a phone interview last week. “After Davis' first two weeks with the team, he called me and said, ‘This is great.'”
Although there haven't been a lot of bright spots for the Wizards so far this season, Bertans is certainly one of them. After spending his first three NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Bertans was traded to Washington this July.

“Davis is super confident in Washington and this situation really allows him to showcase his abilities. If he stays in D.C. next season they'll have an even more interesting dynamic with John [Wall] healthy. Davis truly believes they can be a force in the East so I'm sure that will be a strong point for him,” Kalnitis added. “Winning is important.”
With Washington giving him the biggest role he has had so far in his career, the 27-year-old Latvian is a Most Improved Player candidate and is giving the Wizards hope for the future.
