After suffering another humiliating defeat on Friday night, the Washington Wizards appear to be on a downward spiral. The 134-111 thrashing at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder has now made it seven losses out of eight games to start the season for the struggling Wizards.

Nonetheless, superstar John Wall believes that the team has all the right tools to get themselves out of this deep whole they've put themselves in. According to the 28-year-old, the Wizards roster this season looks great on paper — perhaps even the best the team has ever looked in recent years.

“No,” Wall said when asked if it feels any different this time around when compared to the previous bad start, via Royce Young of ESPN. “I mean, we've got a better team on paper, but until you go out there and show it on the court, that don't mean anything. Anything looks great on paper until you go out and find that chemistry and do it all as a group and everybody looks at themselves in the mirror, including myself first and everybody else down figuring out what can we do to make the game easier and better for us and make us one chemistry group altogether.”

The Wizards have literally been in this position before. A couple of years ago, the team opened the 2016-17 season with an 2-8 start. Wall and co. picked themselves up, and got things going to eventually finish the season as the fourth seed in the East.

It was a busy offseason for the Wizards who added veteran big man Dwight Howard and experienced forward Jeff Green via free agency. They also shipped off Marcin Gortat to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for Austin Rivers, who has yet to make his mark for his new team.

Wall believes that this is one of the best rosters the Wizards have been able to assemble, and that if there's anyone who can dramatically turn their season around, then it has to be this group. Then again, this is much easier said then done, and as Wall explains, each and every individual on the team will need to put in a ton of work to get this done.
