The Washington Wizards have added defensive-minded swingman Carrick Felix to a training camp deal, league sources told Chris Reichert.

Felix was a second round pick (33rd overall) by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013 NBA Draft. He spent a forgettable season back then as he only managed to appear in seven games and score 2.7 points in five minutes per outing. In 2014, Felix was traded by the Cavs to the Utah Jazz who then waived him even before the regular season started. He has played in the G-League since.

Last season, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard suited up for the Long Island Nets where he averaged 9.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game.

The Wizards’ shooting guard depth will be a tough one to crack for Carrick Felix, but he is sure to gain plenty of valuable experience witnessing daily the likes of John Wall, Otto Porter, and Bradley Beal put in work. Felix better act as a sponge when camp starts if he wants to turn those mental clips he's about to store into tangible results moving forward.
