Despite a rough 2023 season for Colorado, there are many that believe that Shedeur Sanders is still one of the top quarterbacks in college football. Skip Bayless is certainly one of the loudest supporters of the Colorado quarterback and made it known in a recent episode of his Fox Sports 1 morning show Undisputed.

During a segment on Undisputed about Deion Sanders's comments during his interview with Fox Sports College Football Analyst Joel Klatt, Bayless pointed out that his close relationship with the Colorado coach might be blinding his perspective but he declared that Shedeur is the top quarterback in college football.
“And maybe we are too close to Deion. Maybe I, I'm in such awe and I have such love and adoration. Maybe I can't see forest for trees, but Shedeur is not just the best quarterback in [the Big 12]. He's the best quarterback in this country. And he is going to be the first pick in the draft, and I think he's going to be really, really good in pro football.”
Article Continues BelowHe continued, making his case for why Shedeur will be the top quarterback in both the Big 12 and in college football and zeroing in on what Colorado did to address the offensive line woes they suffered.
“He is as seasoned and experienced a college quarterback as you're going to get. And all that was missing last year, the biggest piece to the puzzle last year was they just couldn't protect him. And, and Joel Klatt in the interview said, ‘Hey, if you could just cut your sacks in half, Deion, cut them to under 25 from 50 down to 25.' He's the most sack quarterback in the land, in the country. They went out, we had the kid on, Jordan Seaton from DC, from your neck of the woods. He's the best left tackle as a recruit, as a freshman in the country…Jordan Seaton, by all accounts, is going to be a big time pro football player. And I liked what I heard from him here. Because he said, sat right in your seat there and said it's going to change for Shedeur next year.”
Although Colorado is a polarizing topic, Bayless comments about Shedeur Sanders aren't that farfetched. He did indeed have an impressive season with a not-so-stellar offensive line protecting him. He finished the year with 3,230 passing yards and 27 passing touchdowns. If he's able to maintain his high level of pay and possibly increase his numbers in his second and likely final season with Colorado, he'll certainly be viewed as one of the preeminent quarterbacks in the sport of college football and earn himself consideration by many teams as a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Colorado kicks their season off with a matchup with perennial FCS power North Dakota State on Thursday, August 29th at 7 PM EST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
