One of the more intriguing quarterback prospects has decided to change sides. After initially committing to the Penn State Nittany Lions, Marcus Stokes has decided to join the University of Florida. It's a shocking move that came to the surprise (and angst, for Penn State fans) of many college football enthusiasts. (via 247Sports)
Stokes initially was committed to Penn State since at least April of this year. According to sources close to the situation, though, a tournament in Gainesville sparked Florida's pursuit of the QB. In the end, they were successful, as Marcus Stokes will be staying in Florida for his college career.
Many college football pundits rank Marcus Stokes amongst the top 10 quarterbacks in the class of 2023. The Florida product drew comparisons to recent 2022 draftee Kenny Pickett in his fearlessness and crafty abilities on offense. Under the tutelage of Billy Napier in Florida, the quarterback can develop into a big star.

“I have been telling people for months now that he might be the top quarterback in Florida,” Nease head coach Collin Drafts told 247Sports back in February. “You know, we run a spread offense, but we really put a lot on the quarterbacks. I think the neatest part about this past season was his growth and maturation. I knew Marcus [Stokes] could be really good.”
Aside from Stokes, the Gators have also nabbed some top-tier talents in the last few years. Chief among their acquisitions is ex-Buckeyes QB Jack Miller.
