The New York Mets have made some incredible moves throughout the offseason that have led to them earning full-fledged contender status in the MLB.

Are the new-look Mets now the best team in baseball? Let's take a look at four bold predictions to find out.

4 Bold Mets Predictions For The 2022 MLB Season

4. DeGrom comes back and wins a Cy Young

Jacob DeGrom has been one of the best pitchers this game has ever seen. Unfortunately, he went down with an arm injury in the latter part of 2021, prematurely ending his season.

Because the Mets have gone out and added a few key pieces, DeGrom should have one of the best records in all of baseball this season. He was already able to finish 7-2 a season ago and had an astonishing 1.08 ERA. If he can find a way to stay healthy for the entire season after this injury, he should be a guy that could win upwards of 20 games in 2022.

3. Lindor has a bounce-back year

Francisco Lindor probably had his worst career as a professional baseball player last season. Whether it was because of the new scenery or him just struggling against different pitching in the NL East, he certainly didn't have the year that he was hoping for. Lindor finished hitting .230 with only 20 home runs, and that batting average is the worst of his whole career.

He's going to be one of the major reasons why the Mets will be able to accomplish their goals this season. If he can just come out and do the normal things that he was able to do with the Cleveland Guardians, the Mets are going to be instantly better than they were a season ago. Lindor hit .284 in the 2019 season and was able to belt 32 home runs, only the third-highest total of his career.

2. The newly added bats have big years

The Mets added Mark Cahna, Eduardo Escobar and Starling Marte over the offseason. These are three guys who have done a great job all of their career at getting on base and that is going to prove to be extremely valuable for New York.

The biggest issue for the Mets throughout the past few years is they didn't have any run support for DeGrom. When DeGrom is out there on the mound, New York often fails to find ways to put runs up on the board. He probably would've had over 20 wins in each of his last few seasons if the Mets were able to just scratch a few runs across the plate each time he was on the mound.

If these guys can come in and do the same things they've been able to do for most of their careers, the Mets should be a team that is going to be extremely scary for the rest of the MLB.

1. Mets win a World Series

The Mets certainly have enough talent to win a World Series and it's mostly just going to come down to if they can put it all together.

Whenever a team can run out DeGrom andScherzer as its top-two pitches, that team should find success in October. The Mets' biggest thing is making sure these guys can stay healthy for the entire year, not to mention get some much-needed production for New York's newly-acquired hitters.
