After back-to-back wins, the Phoenix Suns are pretty optimistic heading into Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Adding to their shiny disposition is the possibility of Chris Paul suiting up.

Paul didn't play in the first two games after testing positive for COVID-19. But Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard CJ McCollum couldn't help but squeeze in a joke about CP3 after the Suns' rousing Game 2 win.

Genius.

To recall, McCollum was referring to the fascinating tidbit that Paul has lost 11 games in a row when referee Scott Foster is on duty. So since he didn't suit up, his losing streak still stands. Nice of McCollum to stoke the fire of conspiracy theories though.

Obviously, Paul's return would be a welcome development for the Suns. His poise and leadership are simply unparalleled. While Cameron Payne has valiantly stepped up in the absence of CP3, the veteran floor general is just on another level. His return would expectedly make things easier for Devin Booker, who got shackled by the Clippers defense in Game 2. Patrick Beverley played hard-nosed defense all game—quite literally too.

Paul has previously blasted Foster for his allegedly biased officiating against him. He openly criticized Foster in the NBA Bubble last year, particularly an incident when he got called for a delay of game when he was tying his shoelaces. After the game, Paul said: “That s*** don’t make no sense. We could have won the game, but that situation. They’re (NBA) going to fine me. I said his name. We already know the history.”

Speak your truth, Chris Paul!
