Antonio Brown is still without a job in the NFL, and even if a team came calling, there's no telling how long he would be able to play before ongoing investigations by the league office confirmed his alleged wrongdoings, leading to a suspension. For now and what seems like the foreseeable future, the six-time Pro Bowler is very unlikely to be back on the field. But just because Brown is no longer a member of the NFL hardly means he's incapable of dominating the news cycle.

The former Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots wide receiver got into a contentious back-and-forth with Eric Weddle on Thursday after the Los Angeles Chargers safety responded to a tweet by Brown saying the NFL “needs him”. Weddle objected to that assertion, leading Brown to levy multiple insults against him like “dummy” and “jabroni”. Weddle took a slightly higher road in the argument, telling Brown the NFL “isn't about [him]” and alluding to his upcoming preparations for a Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Weddle even wished Brown well as he returns to Central Michigan University to complete his degree.

It bears reminding that Weddle is the one who sparked the interaction by replying to one of Brown's tweets. Still, Brown's reaction will hardly curry any favor across the league, as Weddle is one of the NFL's most accomplished and respected veterans.

Brown was released by the Patriots last weekend after he allegedly sent threatening text messages to one of multiple women who accused him of sexual assault. His departure from New England came just two weeks after Brown parted ways with the Raiders following a heated shouting match between he and general manager Mike Mayock.
