Star defensive tackle Chris Jones wants the Kansas City Chiefs to show him the money — Aaron Donald money. Jones is said to be eyeing a new contract with the Chiefs that will pocket him an average of at least $30 million per year, according to Nate Taylor of The Athletic.

“Jones and the team — led by club owner Clark Hunt and general manager Brett Veach — are at a stalemate for now as Jones seeks an extension that would pay him an average annual salary of $30 million.”

Chris Jones still has guaranteed money coming his way in the 2023 NFL season, but he is to become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the upcoming campaign if he can't get an extension. He is due to earn $19.5 million in 2023, the final year of his current deal with the Chiefs which he signed back in 2020.

At present, Donald is the owner of the most expensive AAV in the NFL among defensive players with an average salary of $31.666 million. Jones feels that he deserves a contract that would pay him a whole lot closer to that amount, a feeling that gets more intense for him when considering the fact that guys like Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward, and Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander have higher AAVs than him, per Spotrac.

Jones, who has been a Pro Bowler in each of the last four seasons, hasn't reported to Chiefs training camp yet and it's costing him money. Every day that he's absent from the training camp means he is obligated to pay $50,000 as a fine.
