Odell Beckham Jr. nearly got his wish before the NFL trade deadline. Alas, he remains with the Cleveland Browns, as the team couldn't strike a last-minute deal with the New Orleans Saints.
According to Kimberley Martin, the Saints had discussions with the Browns about Beckham Jr., but no deal was reached before the 4 p.m. ET NFL trade deadline.
I’m told there were discussions re: Odell going to the #Saints — but both sides couldn’t agree on a workable deal, given how much OBJ is owed the rest of the year.
Plus, there still is optimism in the #Browns building that OBJ can be a big part of their second-half playoff push

Beckham Jr. is making $15.75 million this season. The final two years of his 5-year, $90 million contract are non-guaranteed. During the offseason, the Browns can waive OBJ and save $15 million.
New Orleans could use another receiver — and a quarterback. Evidently, they decided to stay put with their group rather than make a splash at the NFL trade deadline.
Article Continues BelowQB Baker Mayfield and Beckham Jr. have not been able to get on the same page since OBJ arrived in Cleveland, but the team apparently has hopes that he can make an impact for them down the stretch. At 4-4, the Browns are in the middle of a tightly-packed AFC Wild Card race.
Beckham Jr. has just 17 catches for 232 yards and zero touchdowns this season. He's played 29 games for the Browns since being traded in 2019. His trade value is lower than ever.
On Tuesday morning, his dad, Odell Beckham Sr., posted a clip montage on Instagram of various instances in which Mayfield seemed to miss an open OBJ. Los Angeles Lakers star (and Browns fan) LeBron James took to Twitter to advocate for Beckham Jr. on Tuesday, as well.
Despite the buzz, the NFL trade deadline has passed, and Odell and Baker are still teammates.
