The Los Angeles Chargers have traded defensive back Desmond King to the Tennessee Titans, according to multiple reports.

The Titans are sending a sixth-round pick to the Chargers for King:

Speculation about King's future with the Chargers began to surface in the spring, and he later questioned the amount of playing time he was receiving. The 2018 All-Pro selection served as the team's slot defender in most cases, though he has also served as a kick and punt returner.

King played well last season, but his production has dipped in this campaign. So far this season, he has six punt returns for a meager 17 yards.

King, now 25 years of age, was held out of the Chargers' Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos for “a personal matter.” Additional details about his absence were not released, but the team may have been holding him out for trade reasons. Los Angeles lost that game by the narrowest of margins, 31-30.

The NFL's trade deadline is Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, so the Chargers clearly felt the need to pull the proverbial trigger on a deal that sends King to the Titans, who are currently holding a 5-2 overall record.

This is a solid acquisition for the Titans, as they are a team that could use some help in the secondary. In fact, they are currently fielding one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, giving up 268.7 passing yards per game.

Let's see if King can deliver the help that the Titans need on defense.
