It has been a slow start to the season for Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman with injuries continuing to pile up through the first few weeks.

Freeman is now dealing with a foot injury that has forced him to miss practice this week and draw concern about his overall health moving forward. However, Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting that the Falcons are not worried that this is something that will be a long-term issue that would keep him out of action.

This may not be something that lingers on for Devonta Freeman, but it is yet another road block that he will have to overcome this season, as he has missed three out of the first five games played. He had just made his return to the lineup in Sunday's 41-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers where he recorded 32 rushing yards on eight attempts along with two catches for nine yards. It wasn't a standout performance by any means, but it was encouraging for him to be back in the fold after a knee contusion suffered in the season opener loss to the Philadelphia Eagles had kept him out of the lineup for three straight games.

What this most recent injury suggest is that the team will take the precautionary approach with Freeman moving forward in order to avoid him being sidelined for a long period of time. There is a possibility that this may lead to him missing Week 6 action against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in order to ensure that he remains healthy for the long haul of the season.

If he misses anymore additional playing time, the Falcons will likely look to lean on backup Tevin Coleman to carry the workload in the backfield. Coleman has proven throughout his career that he can be a reliable dual-threat option that can a highly effective asset in the offense.
