The Atlanta Falcons are trying to figure out who has position flexibility on the defense and one player they are experimenting with is Takk McKinley.

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution McKinley who's natural position is defensive end is getting work at linebacker during OTAs. It's unclear if this is a move that could be permanent or if this would just be in certain packages, but coach Dan Quinn is happy with what he has seen in the change so far.

“There will be some packages where can be a linebacker,” Falcons coach Dan Quinn said of McKinley. “The value in that [presents the question of] is he a rusher or is he a dropper? . . .

“The more versatility that we have (the better). I’d rather start on those packages now. We may not play them all the way through, but I’d like to start on them and get the experience. That way when you get into the season, here’s a package that I’d like to discuss and we’ll have already put work in on it.”

McKinley has been in the league two years and has been a strong player for the team racking up 13 sacks but the team as a whole had problems getting to the quarterback and they seem to be doing anything they can to try and get more production.

It's unclear if this is something they play on using in games, but if he can also play linebacker that should make him more valuable when it's time to negotiate his next contract.
