Due to the fact that the Atlanta Falcons will be playing on Thursday night, they did not practice on Monday. However, by rule, they are required to submit an injury report to the NFL.

In the report, the Falcons listed wide receiver Julio Jones as a non-participant, as he is dealing with a shoulder injury he sustained during Atlanta's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

Jones initially suffered the injury during the second quarter and exited. He returned with less than six seconds remaining in the contest but left the game once again. The wideout logged five catches for 68 yards in the loss. On the season overall, he has tallied 64 grabs for 950 yards and four touchdowns.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Falcons with the sixth overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft. By his second season, he was a Pro Bowler after catching 79 passes for 1,198 yards and 10 scores.

Overall, Jones has made six Pro Bowls throughout his NFL career, including five straight. During that span, he has also earned a pair of First-Team All-Pro selections and has led the league in receiving yards twice, most recently doing so in 2018 with 1,677 yards.

Jones' injury casts an even larger shadow on what has been a thoroughly disappointing season in Atlanta. Expected by many to contend in the NFC this year, the Falcons have gone just 3-8 and have never even resembled a playoff team at any point during the 2019 campaign.

They will take on the New Orleans Saints this week, something they may have to do without Julio Jones.
