Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan might seem like he's on the wrong side of the peak of his career, but no one tell the gunslinger that.
While addressing his future, as well as how people view him, the veteran said:
Article Continues Below“If you play well long enough you know these things come up,” Falcons QB Matt Ryan said, via Tori McElhaney of The Athletic. “I still believe I am playing really well and have a lot of good football in front of me.”
There's no reason for Ryan to be worried about anyone taking his gig anytime soon. While Atlanta did sign an undrafted QB who might possibly develop into something of value down the line, there's no signal-caller on the roster who should threaten him entering the upcoming season.
The knock on Matt Ryan over the years mostly has to do when he was most successful versus times he's been average to “just” good — as if the latter isn't good enough. Some like to claim he was only good due to offensive coordinators he's had, and that after they left, his play hasn't been as great.
None of that matters. Talking points don't put up touchdowns. When the season begins, the Falcons veteran will have all the chances in the world to prove he's still got gas left in the tank.
