The Atlanta Falcons have a lot of holes up and down their roster, but one of their biggest needs is at cornerback.
As a result, the Falcons may be looking to move up to land one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL Draft this week, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Rapoport notes that Atlanta, which owns the 16th overall pick in the first round, has talked to teams in the top 10 and could be looking at Ohio State's Jeff Okudah and Florida's CJ Henderson, two of the top-rated corners in this draft class.
The Falcons released Desmond Trufant, who had been their best cornerback for quite some time, earlier this offseason.
Atlanta owns six picks in this year's draft, but it possesses just two selections inside the top 75. For that reason, the Falcons may have to get a bit creative when it comes to making such a significant jump in the first round.
Dan Quinn's club is coming off of a rather disappointing 2019 campaign in which it went just 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the second straight season.
It wasn't long ago that the Falcons were one of the best teams in the NFL. Back in 2016-17, they won 11 games, captured the NFC South division crown and made it all the way to the Super Bowl before famously blowing a 28-3 lead in a gut-wrenching loss to the New England Patriots.
Atlanta made the playoffs as a Wild Card the following year and ultimately fell in the Divisional Round.
Since then, the Falcons have looked mostly lifeless, never even resembling a contender in either of the last two seasons.
