There is a new-found sense of optimism surrounding the Chicago Bears going into the 2018 NFL season and it's shared by quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
Chicago has made a number of changes to help turn the franchise around. Trubisky said, during an appearance on the Bernstein & McKnight Show on 670 The Score:
“Everybody's got their outside opinions,” Trubisky said. “I've already been written off and called a bunch of things in the past just from one year. But I know what I'm capable of, and I know the pieces that we have in our locker room, what coach Nagy has brought to the Chicago Bears. I'm looking forward to the season.”
It is encouraging to see the second-year quarterback is confident in his potential. Trubisky is coming off a rough rookie campaign after throwing for 2,193 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. Needless to say, it was a rather disappointing outing for the former second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Fortunately, there is good reason for him to be optimistic this time around. The arrival of new head coach Matt Nagy inspires confidence in all the Bears' offensive players about their prospects moving forward.
Furthermore, the front office has done a marvelous job of bringing in some more firepower to surround Trubisky with the addition of wide receiver Allen Robinson and tight end Trey Burton. Pair that with their already formidable run game and there is suddenly a new explosive dynamic to Chicago's offense.
The Chicago Bears offensive success this season will largely be based on Trubisky's progression from last year.
