Since the Buffalo Bills decided to trade veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns earlier this offseason, the message has been crystal clear that the front office is looking to take a quarterback in this year's draft. The team has already moved up nine spots in the first round to the 12th overall selection in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bills may possibly be on the outside looking in terms of snagging one of the top projected quarterbacks in this year's class, it hasn't stopped the team from staying active in their push to move higher. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, Buffalo has scheduled a private workout with USC quarterback Sam Darnold later this week in case they are able to secure a higher draft selection.
The #Bills top evaluators and coaches will head out to Los Angeles on Friday for a private workout with #USC QB Sam Darnold, I’m told. They pick No. 12, but in case they move up…

It has become quite evident that the Bills are looking to make a significant push up the draft board in order to land one of the top quarterbacks. Darnold is widely regarded as being the top players at his position in this year's crop, which should likely lead to him being one of the top few selections either between the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants, who have both been reported in having some significant interest in him.
This alone may make it difficult for the Bills to move into either the top two picks in the first round with that being the situation. Nonetheless, there is no harm in the team bringing in Darnold to get a closer look as to what he has to offer on the field.
The 20-year-old could quickly step in as the franchise quarterback for Buffalo with several proven offensive weapons around him in star running LeSean McCoy along with wide receivers Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones that could help him be effective under center from the get-go. What should be taken away from this upcoming scheduled workout with Darnold is that the Bills are serious about moving up even higher in the first round.
