The Cleveland Browns joined the wrong side of history after finishing the 2017 NFL season 0-16. Even before becoming the second team to go defeated, head coach Hue Jackson had been on the hot seat for some time.
As a result, Jackson was among the notable names that were likely to be gone at the end of the year. However, it seems he still has a powerful believer in Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. According to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala, Haslam confirmed Jackson's return for the 2018 NFL season:
#Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said he TOLD new GM John Dorsey that Hue Jackson would return as head coach, that there was no debate. Says, "I don't think Hue has lost (his) magic."

“I don't think Hue has lost (his) magic.”
While it is encouraging for Jackson to have the support of the team's owner, it is difficult to pinpoint what “magic” Haslam is referring to. The Browns actually managed to take a step back in their rebuild after going 1-15 in Jackson's debut season. He has since accumulated an abysmal 1-31 record.
Fortunately, there is literally nowhere else for Cleveland to go but up from this point. The Browns will have the first and fourth overall pick in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft. Jackson has been adamant about the team using every pick necessary to find their franchise quarterback of the future. That said, there will be little reason for the Browns not to enjoy a much more successful season.
