A fight broke out between the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday after 49ers safety Marcell Harris applied a hit to Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky after Trubisky slid at the tail end of a run.

Several Bears players came to Trubisky's defense, including wide receiver Anthony Miller. Miller says that defending Trubisky was an obvious reaction:

“I just saw Mitch’s head hit the ground real hard and I knew it was an unnecessary hit,” Miller said, according to JJ Stankevitz of NBC Sports Chicago. “Like, nobody had to tell me nothing to go in there, because that’s my quarterback.”

Miller's reaction resulted in an ejection, along with fellow wideout Josh Bellamy and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman. However, Miller does not regret his response and says he would act the same way if the situation arose again:

“Because (Trubisky) already missed a couple games because of a late hit, so when I see that, that’s like dirty football, you know what I’m saying?” Miller said. “And I don’t support that.”

The Bears ended up winning the game by a score of 14-9 to improve to 11-4 on the year. They also kept their hopes for a first-round bye alive.

In order for Chicago to nail down the No. 2 seed in the NFC, it will have to beat the playoff-hungry Minnesota Vikings on the road next week and hope that the Los Angeles Rams lose to the San Francisco 49ers.

The latter doesn't seem like a probable scenario, and winning in Minnesota with the Vikings' playoff hopes on the line will be tough.

No matter what happens, though, the Bears are NFC North champions.
