Ohio State running back Mike Weber is scheduled to meet with a number of teams leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft. It appears the Chicago Bears are among the notable teams interested in his services.
The Bears could be looking to shake things up in the backfield this offseason. According to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors, Weber is slated to meet with Chicago among other teams.

The Bears' interest in Weber is certainly understandable. Rumors have started to surface about running back Jordan Howard's uncertain future in Chicago. Despite his massive success over the last three seasons, the emergence of running back Tarik Cohen has led to a tremendous dip in usage for him. His looming free agency status has indicated that the front office could look to deal him before then.
Although the Bears are ready to move on with Cohen, it seems they would still like to rely heavily on a two-back system. They saw plenty of improvement on offense by mixing it up with their current duo in recent years. While the pint-sized playmaker is poised to take on a larger workload, Chicago will need to find a way to avoid running him into the ground.
Weber finished the 2018 campaign with 954 yards on 172 carries with five rushing touchdowns while hauling in 21 passes for 112 yards with one receiving touchdown. Given Cohen's versatility as a receiver out of the backfield, the Bears could be looking for someone to handle short-yardage situations much like Howard does.
