Tom Brady chose to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following his departure from the New England Patriots. But they weren't the only team he expressed interest in. During a recent episode of his show, Dan Patrick revealed that the Chicago Bears were on Brady's final shortlist of teams he was interested in joining.
“Did you know that the Bears were in the final list of teams for Tom Brady?… The final list that Brady was looking at, the Chargers, the Bears, and the Buccaneers. I was told this yesterday. I said, ‘Wait a minute. The Bears?' [The source] told me yes.”
The moment the 2019 season concluded, a countless number of teams were linked as possible landing spots for Brady. Some popular teams that were named were the Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Las Vegas Raiders, the Tennessee Titans, and the Buccaneers.
However, the Bears made a ton of sense for Brady but were never legitimately considered a threat to sign him. But with a daunting defense, an offensive-minded coach, and a decent group of skill players, it's not hard to imagine why Brady would want to play for Chicago.
On the other hand, the Bears are still uncertain at quarterback, naming Mitchell Trubisky their starter in Week 1. Also, the team acquired Nick Foles via trade this offseason due to Trubisky's shortcomings under center in his first three seasons.
For years, fans in Chicago have been anxiously waiting to have a reliable quarterback leading their offense. Therefore, it's likely painful for Bears fans to think that they were close to snagging Brady while they hope Trubisky can turn things around.
