Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky says he expects to make his return from a right shoulder injury and play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.

“I do [expect to play this week],” Trubisky said per Jeff Dickerson of ESPN. “I just have to show Coach that I can play. I'm feeling good about where I'm at. As long as I can show them that I can go out there and do it and make all the throws and be the player that I know I am, I feel confident I'll be able to go.

“I feel really close, feel really close. Feel good. Hopefully, they will let me go because I feel I can.”

Bears head coach Matt Nagy said he feels strongly that Trubisky will finally play on Sunday, but he still needs to see more from the second-year quarterback in practice before he officially names him the team's starting QB in this big showdown between NFC contenders.

Trubisky has missed the past two games after suffering the shoulder injury late in the fourth quarter of Chicago's 25-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11. He missed the Bears’ 23-16 win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, as well as last week’s overtime loss to the New York Giants.

Veteran backup Chase Daniel has started in Trubisky’s place during those two games. He completed nearly 70 percent of his passes and threw for 515 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Bears cleared Trubisky to resume throwing late last week, and he was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
