Chicago Bears center Cody Whitehair is known as one as the better centers in the league and was rewarded for his efforts in 2018 with a Pro Bowl selection. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky knows how special he is it to the team on the field, but he also knows how much he means to him personally.

In an interview with Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic Trubisky talked about the day he was drafted, and how Whitehair and Zach Miller were some of the first players to reach out to him and welcoming him to the Chicago.

“The reason I (reach out) is because when I first got here, the guys reached out to me and off the top of my head, it was special guys who I now consider family. Cody Whitehair and Zach Miller were some of the first guys to reach out to me when I got drafted. They welcomed me to the team and to the city. I just want them to know that they’re a part of this family and I’ve got their back and we’re going to do special things here and I hope they’re as excited as we are about it.”

Trubisky has now made it his goal to reach out to the new draft picks so they feel welcomed, much like he did when he first came into the league. Most importantly for Trubisky and the Bears, they need the draft picks that come in this year to help push them over the edge, and farther into the playoffs.
