While the Chicago Bears are looking to build on their high expectations going into the 2019 NFL season, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has suddenly found himself in the MVP conversation.
Bettors in Las Vegas have been taking advantage of Trubisky's favorable odds to win MVP this year. According to Michael Silver of NFL.com, he certainly understands the reasoning for it:
Trubisky's reaction to all the hype? “It's funny,” he told me last week after the team's first training camp practice. “All the people betting on me to win in Vegas — it's just good odds. So, why not? If it happens, the payout is great. If not, you don't lose that much.”
It is clear that Trubisky is well-aware of the buzz he and the Bears have generated this offseason. Although he may be considered a long shot to win the award this early in the year, the same cannot be said for his team's chances at a Super Bowl.
The Bears have made a number of splashes in recent years and it finally paid off with a successful 2018 campaign. Not only do they boast one of the most talented defenses in the league but the emergence of Trubisky as a franchise quarterback has essentially confirmed their status as a legitimate contender moving forward.
As a result, the 24-year-old has heard plenty of talk about the expectations the Bears now face as a team.
It will ultimately fall on Trubisky to block out the noise and stay focused on the task at hand.
