Baker Mayfield is in a rock in a hard place right now. He still remains with the Cleveland Browns despite the team going out and pulling off a blockbuster trade for Deshaun Watson. But, with his legal situation in a very concerning spot, they might actually need Mayfield after all. The problem is, he seems done with the Browns.

Nevertheless, his wife, Emily Mayfield, dropped a positive update on her husband as he continues to work hard at improving his game this summer.

Emily Mayfield said Baker “is great,” and that he’s been “training a ton.”

However, she also revealed how hard it's been to see the Browns media bash her loved one:

“Watching the person you love get scrutinized by the media when you see the hard work they put in, seeing all the falsehoods written in the media and having to bite my tongue.”

Mayfield has been heavily linked to a trade away from Cleveland, with the Seahawks looking like a logical destination after they lost Russell Wilson. It's clear Baker doesn't want to play second-fiddle to Watson, even if the Browns need him to start in place of the former Texans signal-caller. Mayfield has proven he is a QB1 at the NFL level and he just wants the chance to be one again in this league. If Mayfield does indeed move on, the quarterback duties could be put on the shoulders of Jacoby Brissett, depending on what happens with the Watson legal saga.
